Action vs. Talk

the Aleppo CDS is not just about strategy preparation; it is about implementation as well. Small and quick projects and activities are implemented on the ground while strategies are being prepared on paper. Activities can include small urban projects, training projects, events, public interest campaigns, and the formation of local, domestic, and international partnerships, alliances, cooperative agreements and networking.

Madinatuna Brand Awareness Campaign

April 2010, Aleppo

2 weeks brand awareness campaign was implemented to launch Madinatuna. Mass advertising media channels were used.

Skills for Informal Settlements

March 2010, SEBC, Aleppo

Skills is a 1 year training program for 18 young people (aged 18-25 years old) from the informal settlements. The training seek sto increase their employability by providing new skills and competences in entrepreneurship development, management, language, and interpersonal communication. the program includes 6 month theory courses and 6 month hands-on training in the private sector.

Quaik River Beautification Project

January 2010, Aleppo

CDS participated in the preparation and construction supervision of the project of the Quaik River Beautification project (technical, legal, urban design issues). The project aims at improving the river bed to serve an ecological function insuring biodiversity, good air quality, and managing rain water floods.

Wax Flower Book

January 2010, Aleppo

CDS funded the Small Flowers NGO to publish children story for raising awareness on inter-family marriages (endogamy)

Physio-therapy Center

July 2009, Kadi Askar, Aleppo

Established and launched a physio-therapy center for disabled children with the Small Flowers NGO in one of the poor neighborhoods of Aleppo. MOA provided the location and equipment. Small flowers NGO is running the center and providing health care.

Cleaning Campaign

March 2009, Aleppo

CDS supported the MOA in preparing and managing an awareness raising campaign on the rubbish problem in Aleppo City.
